Classroom Observation Videos

So what is the most effective way of helping teachers improve
the effectiveness of their teaching?

Most of us find it incredibly hard to know exactly what effect we are having in the classroom.

Of course we get feedback from the pupils and students in terms of their work and behaviour, but our eyes can’t be everywhere, and we can only see events from our position in the room.

Because of this many teachers find it incredibly helpful to be able to watch videos of lessons – both their own lessons and the lessons of others.

These lessons work best when they are actual lessons filmed as they happen, with no stage management, and no disruption. Our lessons are carefully edited to clearly demonstrate student and teacher interaction, whilst keeping all key lesson stages intact.

The classroom observation videos are accessed through a clear DVD menu system that is structured around the teachers’ own lesson plans. A separate resource CD is included in the pack that includes the schools' Ofsted reports, printable lesson plans, evaluation forms, and additional resources to make our classroom observation DVD's a valuable resource for INSET, teacher training and CPD.

We have just filmed three more primary lessons in Literature and Maths. These will be graded against the new Ofsted framework which
came into effect in September '09' and feature post lesson discussions between the teacher and Ofsted inspector.

We also filmed the following lessons at John Leggott College - one of the best performing 6th form colleges in the country which was ranked 13th in the
